Poor boy's fallen ill

Kayleb has fallen sick for the first time.

We thought we ought to bring him to the PD's office since he hasn't pooped for a week. So the PD checked him and gave him fleet enema. She also found his nose really congested and prescribed some medication for his cough/congestion.

We're relieved that the enema worked and he pooped twice in a day. But getting him to swallow his medication  is a pain for both of us. He's always frantically crying for help and gasping away. To make things harder, we need to go through the same ordeal thrice a day.

He's back to school today and I hope his infant care teachers can cope with him (especially during medication time). I'm keeping my cellphone close by just in case they ring me.

Breaks our heart to see him unwell and having to suffer the torment of taking his medication. I hope he gets well really soon.

I took a day off from work to rest and also to bond with kayleb. I guess he was all delighted to know that he is not in school but next to me.

Took this shot shortly after nursing him in the morning. Letting him latch on is really a good way to bond. And it makes me happy to know he is happy.

He has been really well-behaved today too. I truly miss spending every hour of every day with him. I mean, who wouldn't? He's such a darling when he doesn't fuss.

I very much want to cherish each growing up moment. Time flies, can't turn back and he'll never have another second of being that him in his next moment.

I forgot to blog that I managed to have him sit up (with the help of plenty of pillows). It was such an adoring sight. My boy growing up bit by bit everyday. Can't help but yell "time sure flies!"

welcome to infancy!

on 9th March 2012, our precious pumpkin pie turned three months old! (: it's a milestone for him to graduate from being a newborn to an infant.

celebrated his day at the pd's office for his pnuemococcal vaccination. he has been slightly cranky there after & we are conscientiously monitoring his temperature. Keeping our fingers cross that a fever will not kick in.

anyway, happy 3 months old our precious love. another month before introducing solids, and another 3 months to your half birthday. Mommy & daddy are so excited for you.

Attempted to let Kayleb have his belly time this evening. Not quite ready yet I say. His neck muscles aren't ready to hold his head up and all he really wanted was to suckle his fists.

Kayleb is full of adoration for his animal friends. they are actually prints on the fabric we bought from ikea.

Now that he is nearing 3 months old, he is starting to interact with them. More often smiling and cooing as he watch the fabric flutter with the breeze. Such a lovely sight.

Mommy can't wait for you to turn 3 months old. It'll be belly time for you so you can start learning to kick and support yourself for your crawling in the later months.

Monday and a week long

It's Monday, and the last week of my maternity leave before I return to the office. I chose to return 14 days early hoping that the remaining leave can be made full use of, just in case Kayleb needs me urgently.

I hope he'll be a good boy today and for the rest of days he'll be at the school house. I'm quite paranoid when it comes to wondering if he'll be mistreated when he gets fussy or cranky. 

I'm also adjusted to being a stay at home mom but now I've got to readjust to balancing going to work and juggling with attending to his needs back home.

Kayleb, let's 加油 together okay?

What I fear most

Today, I came to realize what I fear most about having to return to work. Not just being apart from my son, but the possibility of missing out his first flip, his babble, his first sitting up, his first standing and many more.

I've always wanted to be there for all of his firsts but I've came to realize how difficult that might be since I'm not a stay at home mommy.

So, the little sunshinejoy is now at the schoolhouse. It'll be a full day for him today since the in laws and his daddy thinks it's a good idea.

it's kayleb's first day at the school house today. i just got home from dropping him off at the school house and coming home to an empty house is really weird. afterall, he's all i've ever got and known for 24-7 over the past few months.

my friend calls this separation anxiety.

at least i didn't cry when I left him in the care of his teacher. i just felt a strong sense of helplessness having to leave him with strangers. And I truly wonder how he'll react when he wakes up to not see me or his daddy, but someone he has never met in his life. I hope and pray that he copes well.

He has been behaving relatively alright when strangers carry him but you can't be too sure about such things. well, to set things off easier for him, it's gonna be a half day session for a start. Don't want to terrify him too much to begin with.

I can't wait to see my precious little sunshine joy in the afternoon.

Mommy started having cramps on 7 Dec 2011. Ignorantly thought it was braxton hicks. Actually, it was contractions and I was dilated when I visited Dr. Ang on 8 Dec 2011.

Decided to start maternity leave on 9 Dec 2011 instead of the following week but guess what, I started to show after dinner on 8 Dec 2011. I was lucky enough to still enjoy a bowl of hot kimchi noodle soup your daddy cooked.

mommy's not too worried though, but am really relieved you are doing okay and growing so strong.

By the way, your cot, clothes, linen and labor bag (almost done) are packed. We want to be ready for you when you pops next month.

7 weeks more before week 38.

Momma's excited and scared at the same time. Of the uncertainty towards labor. But I know dada will be with us through it all. He'll be there when you pop and let out your first cry.

Time flies.

It felt just like yesterday when Momma first found out she's pregnant. And then soon, you're helping us complete the family.

I'm so glad that he is preparing himself for your arrival and I know you two will bond right away. (: 

30 Weeks

Our little silly pie, you're flipped around, head down and legs up now. No wonder dada and momma feel your prominent kicks above the navel area.

Sometimes momma feels you tickling her with your fingers, you cheeky little boy.

Quite disappointed though we can't catch you on 3D since Dr. Ang said you weren't in a good position for capturing.

Nonetheless, momma's super glad to see your quick beating heartbeats. It shows your healthy.

25 weeks old

My little sunshine joy, you are 25 weeks old today.

Mommy and Daddy can't wait to see you when you're ready to pop at 40weeks. (: We love you so very much.  And my smart little boy, I guess you know Mommy & Daddy are really busy lately for the big day on 9th Oct. Bear with us ok?

Hello there my baby, you've been dancing around and kicking momma since I've got into the office. Are you excited that momma's back to work?

I'm so sorry that momma's got a bad tummy lately. But momma will keep eating proper meals so the nutrients will get to you too!

We'll be heading to Dr. Ang's clinic after work today okay? We need to get you your vitamins so you can grow big and strong.

Detailed Scan at 20weeks

Was really excited to see the little one yesterday.
Is it normal for a mommy-to-be to worry alot about the baby's health?

Can't wait till the next appointment to see you again.

more involvement lately

I'm still feeling exhausted everyday.
They say it's because the body is using a lot of energy for the baby's growth.

He kissed my tummy again last night.
I love it when he does that, it's like telling the little one he loves him.
He is also more involved - thinking of rearrangement of furniture, getting a cot, naming the baby etc...

I truly feel blessed having him around.
And I gotta thank God for making all these possible.
I also have to thank him for being such a wonderful father-to-be.

He'll be back in camp next week. The little one and I are going to miss him alot.
We'll cherish the entire week with him before he goes away.

A very lovely boyfriend and father to be

Hunz bought me the pregnancy pillow last night.
He said I'd need it even more as the belly grows larger.
He's really a sweetie pie and I'm more blessed than ever.

While shopping last evening, he suddenly said he thought of a name for the little one.
One with 'A' and 'K' in it - Jake.

17 weeks

The little one is 11.4cm long (head to bottom).
The doctor said I've got low lying placenta and might need a cesarean. It's still early to decide though, so I've got to visit him a couple more occasions.

The tummy's getting tighter but these two nights have been moderately well. I've been talking to the little one before bed, asking him to allow me some good night's rest so I can last the day at work. He's a really good boy.

I also love how hunz feels or rubs my tummy. Like, he's feeling for the little one. I hope I'll be able to let him feel the little one when he starts kicking or protruding.

16 weeks

I have so much difficulty sleeping at night.

The tummy feels really awkward - I can't explain how weird.

I get awaken to run toilet trips which gets really disruptive.

I can't sit in a single position for more than 10 mins while at work.

My shoulders, lower back and calves are aching like crap.

My nose and sinuses are constantly blocked, I barely can breathe.

The share of food intake has reduced because I constantly feel bloated.

I need a pregnancy pillow and I'm in awful need for a massage. Like a plea, like a beg. Goodness.

God's blessing.

The job interview hunz went last week offered him a position with a very decent salary.

I'm very happy for him.

God's a brilliant watcher, undeniably. Thank you Big Guy!

The magical moment

Hunz grabbed my tummy and planted a kiss.
Nobody will ever know how magical that moment was for the three of us.

I felt so touched I almost cried.

I've been carefully threading around the pregnancy topic.
Carefully making sure I don't say or do things that will add on the stress he already has.

His action caught me pleasantly surprised.
I know the little one is feeling blessed too. Because daddy loves him.

Hunz' graduation

Attended hunz' graduation today.

Was so proud of him when he walked the stage to receive his scroll.

The end of college life marks the beginning of another milestone in life.

I'm so glad he allowed me to be part of these important times.

We celebrated further by watching Transformers in the night.

I hope he enjoyed the movie and I love making him feel happy.

The good news

Dr. Ang called.
He has good news.

The little one is healthy, with no down syndrome.
He is a baby boy. (:

I'm more thrilled to know that the little one's alright.
Momma's gonna continue protecting you.

Week 13

The ultrasound screen shows little love sleeping inside me.
I was filled with jitters, so afraid of going into the procedure room.

Hunz held my hands and showered hugs. It was comforting but I was still afraid.

My name was called out, he had to stay outside.
The LA hurts, but the introducer hurts worse.
My focus was on the little one; like guided by the sonographer, I kept focusing on him.
The biopsy hurt like crap.
I lost count of the samples taken.
I heard the consultant said "PCR" but I couldn't remember what it meant that instance.

Then, it was all over. I was out of the procedure suite, ready to be discharged.
Three days of complete rest in bed was there waiting.

Week 12

Dr. Ang called.
The OSCAR result was ready.
The little one was at high risk for down syndrome at birth.

My world crashed.
It was a roller coaster ride before deciding to have him stay.
And now this.

The first thing flashed across my head was if it was karma.
Karma for even harboring thoughts of erasing him from my life.

I cried.
My heart sank.
It felt so bad that I've never been so hurt before.

Hunz and I had two options.
A CVS test next week or Amniocentesis at 5 months.

We're going for the CVS.
It's easier now than later.
